Scottish Parliament honours Growing2gether

Emma Roddick addresses Parliament about Growing2gether

Growing2gether was recently spotlighted in the Scottish Parliament when  MSP Emma Roddick addressed the house, devoting her entire member’s time to our charity. While sharing how moved and impressed she’d been on a visit to one of our Highland programmes, she urged Parliament to get involved with Growing2gether.

WATCH! MSP Emma Roddick’s Parliament address.

‘The reason this programme works is the willingness of the young people who take part,’ she told the House.

‘We know that young people with adverse childhood experiences need a push, need encouragement and opportunities to discover the amazing things about themselves that the world has told them aren’t there.

‘We know [Growing2gether] works, and it would be very sensible – and successful – if the Scottish Government were to seriously consider how it could support, explore and expand Growing2gether’s work

‘This is not an opportunity we can ignore.’ – Emma Roddick, MSP

‘If we want to tackle the attainment gap, if we want more young people in positive destinations, and if we want them to be genuinely involved in their community and feel a responsibility to it, this is not an opportunity we can ignore.’

She ended with a question for the Minister: Why is this not in more schools across Scotland?

Thank you Emma for your heartfelt support!
