In Loving Memory of Lady Diana Whitmore

It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of Lady Diana Whitmore, founder of Growing2gether, who died peacefully on 25th August 2026 with her son by her side.

Diana dedicated more than 40 years of her life to the belief that every young person carries the seed of their own greatness, they simply need the right conditions to grow. That belief became the foundation of three charities she founded across her lifetime, and it found perhaps its fullest expression in both Growing2gether and the Psychosynthesis Trust.

Diana established Growing2gether in 2016, in the Scottish Highlands, to give disengaged and at-risk young people the chance to become mentors, leaders, and forces for change in their own communities.

In her 20s, Diana moved to Italy and became a student and close associate of  Roberto Assagioli, founder of psychosynthesis. She was with him when he died. This experience impacted her so profoundly that she dedicated the rest of her life to carrying forward his legacy, first through decades as Chairperson and Joint Chief Executive of the Psychosynthesis Trust, and later by weaving those same principles of positive and transpersonal psychology into Growing2gether's pioneering nursery/early years mentoring programme. Under her guidance, that programme grew from a local initiative into a model recognised across Scotland for its impact on the confidence, resilience and life chances of the young people it serves.

Diana was the author of two books, Psychosynthesis in Education: A Guide to the Joy of Learning and Psychosynthesis Counselling in Action, and trained professionals across Europe throughout her career. In more recent years, she shared the leadership of Growing2gether as Co-CEO alongside Gavin Morgan, guiding the charity's expansion into new communities across the north of Scotland right up until her passing.

'We give young people a safe place to practice what they learn in a supportive group. Making a difference to a child and their community,  shows them who they really are and who they can become. We simply give them the confidence, skills and self-belief to make this a reality.' Founder, Diana Whitmore. 

Above all, Diana will be remembered for the thousands of young people whose lives she touched,  for teaching them, as she so often said, that they are precious and that they have something real to contribute to the world.

She is survived by her son and leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the work of Growing2gether and the Psychosynthesis Trust and the countless lives it has changed and will go on to change.
